Rokusho Japanese Watch Face

WabiFace Rokusho Gear puts a green-patinated temple bronze on your Wear OS smartwatch, and cuts it open so you can watch the movement work.

⚙ A MOVEMENT THAT REALLY MESHES
Two magatama windows are cut clean through the plate, and behind them seven wheels turn as one train. They are not decoration laid over each other: the teeth share a single module, each pair of centres sits exactly a pitch-radius-sum apart, contacting wheels turn opposite ways, and every speed is set by tooth count, so a small wheel runs faster than the large one it drives. The starting phase of each wheel is solved so the teeth interlock, and every speed is a whole fraction of a minute, so the train returns to that phase at the top of every hour and the mesh never walks off. Behind the working train sits a field of idle wheels gone to rust, so the window shows a mechanism rather than five cogs on a plate.

🟢 ROKUSHO, THE GREEN OF OLD BRONZE
Rokusho is the verdigris that grows on a temple bell over centuries. The plate carries it with the gilt still showing through, and twelve applied bosses ring the bezel the way the studs ring a real bonsho, with three set in a triangle at twelve.

🕐 FIVE HAND METALS, CHOSEN SEPARATELY
Kin gold, Shirogane white metal, Akagane copper, Rurikon blued steel, Kurogane gunmetal. The hands are a separate choice from the dial, so any of the thirty pairings is yours. Each hand carries a core stripe of the opposite tone down its length, which is what keeps it readable where it crosses the gilt and where it crosses the dark patina.

⌚ TWO COMPLICATIONS
Two recessed cartouches sit in applied gold beads on the plate, opposite each other. Steps and battery are set by default, and each holds anything your watch offers. Choose Large, Medium, Small or Off, and any of five inks: Gold, Ivory, Jade, Ruby or Steel.

⏱ SECONDS, OR NOT
One switch removes the seconds hand.

🌙 AMBIENT MODE
Always-on drops the plate and the movement entirely. Only the hands, the twelve bosses and one thin band stay lit on true black, so the face is easy on the battery and safe against burn-in.

⌚ COMPATIBILITY
Wear OS 5 or later. Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch 4 or later, and other Wear OS 5 smartwatches. This is a watch face, not a phone app: install it to the watch.
